My name is Renee Nelson, and I’m running to be a member of the Ossining School Board.
Ossining schools shaped who I am. I grew up here, attending park all the way to grdauating from OHS, and am now raising my kids here.
Ossining gave me opportunities, challenged me to grow, and helped build the foundation for my future. That experience has stayed with me, and it’s a big part of why I’m writing to you today.
As a parent of two students currently in the district, I now see our schools through a different lens. I see the dedication of our educators, the potential in our students, and the strong sense of community that makes Ossining so special. I also see where we have opportunities to do more, to expand access, strengthen communication, ensure safety, and better prepare our students for what comes next.
I’m running because I believe in what our schools can be.
I believe every student deserves access to meaningful opportunities beyond high school, whether that’s college, career pathways, or both. I believe families deserve transparency, clear communication, and leadership they can trust. And I believe our schools should prepare students not just academically, but with the real-world skills they need to succeed.
This isn’t just about policy…it’s about people.
It’s about making sure every student feels supported and prepared. It’s about ensuring families feel heard and informed. And it’s about making thoughtful, responsible decisions that strengthen our schools for the long term.
Ossining invested in me. Now, I’m committed to giving back and investing in Ossining.
This is personal.
This is about our students, our families, and our community.
